Plush Teddy Bear
Stuffed animals make the perfect presents for all occasions if you have young children in your family, or if your friends do. I recently bought my niece a plush teddy bear, and boy was she ever happy with it. She is five years old, and loves her stuffed teddy bears more than all of her other toys, so I thought that i would get her another one to add to the collection. This plush teddy bear was pretty big – almost as big as Sally, my niece, and so she makes quite a site carrying it into the room. She has to bend backwards to lug the huge plush teddy bear around with her, and sometimes has to take a rest. She loves to cuddle with it, but even more likes to wrestle with it. She says the funniest things, too. The other day, she was complaining that whenever they wrestle, the plush teddy bear always wins.
Of course, the first thing she did when I gave her that stuffed teddy bear, was to name it. She named it “Mr. Google Eyes,” because it has the biggest eyes that you've ever seen on a stuffed animal. They are bigger than quarters, with a surprised look permanently displayed on them, and eye lashes painted on. She seems to know that the plush teddy bear is giving her a look of surprise, because whenever she has some new news to share with us, she says it instead to Mr. Google Eyes. “Guess what,” she'll say, “my friend is coming over from school tomorrow. Aren't you surprised?” And the plush teddy bear does look surprised.
Of course, you wouldn't want to get a much younger child such a nice plush teddy bear. At young ages, what you really want to get them are things that are either made tough, or things that won't be that sorely missed if they are ripped apart, or drown in a sea of drool. If you are dealing with a very young one, chances are that she will already have enough stuffed animals, and won't need another plush teddy bear anyway. The best thing to get her is something educational, like those puzzles for little kids with different size blocks that you can put into different holes. That way, she will have something to occupy her during the long hours in the crib, and will be able to start learning early too.
