My mother recently applied for a new job. In order to land the job she had to take a typing test along with a medical terminology test. My mother knows the medical terminology quite well, however, she was pretty worried about her typing speed and accuracy. She knew she'd have to brush up in order to pass the minimum of 40 words per minute with 100% accuracy. So, she asked me to find her an online typing test that she could use to practice and monitor her progress.
I did a simple Google search and found pages and pages of online typing tests. I browsed through a few of them and struck upon an online typing test that turned green when you typed accurately and turned red when you'd made a mistake. In addition, this online typing test measured your typing speed and gave you a final score. I tried this online typing test myself to see how it worked. I was surprised to find that my own typing speed was at 70 words per minute with 100% accuracy. I decided this must be a good test if it rated me so high and I passed the link on to my mother.
My mother was delighted with this online typing test. What she really liked about it was the fact that each time she went back for a fresh round of practice, the test would give her a new paragraph to type. She liked this online typing test because she knew that it was testing her actual typing speed without having to worry that she was merely typing from memory.
Every evening for a week, my mother practiced using the online typing test that I found for her. Her speed increased and her accuracy improved and by the day of the actual test she passed with flying colors.
That evening she phoned me at home to thank me for sending her the link to this particular online typing test. She told me it was exactly what she was looking for and that this online typing test made all the difference in the world to the outcome of her typing test. As she expected, she passed the medical terminology test with no problem. And thanks to the online typing test she also exceeded the minimum test score for both speed and accuracy resulting in her landing the job.
