Getting married is exciting. Most people try and plan a wedding that will include their closest friends and family. However, once the ceremony is over and the honeymoon is a memory you might want to consider sending out an announcement so that others will know that you’ve tied the knot.
Newspaper wedding announcements are a wonderful way to spread the word about your nuptials. Although some people still choose to send out individual wedding announcements that can prove costly. It can also hurt people’s feelings if you didn’t include them on the short-list of people worthy of a notice.
Placing newspaper wedding announcements is a fairly simply thing. Unless you have a large budget you’ll probably only want to place the notice in one newspaper. The best method of choosing is to consider which newspaper has the highest circulation.

This includes the bride’s name before marriage, the groom’s name, both sets of parent’s names, the date of the wedding, the location that the wedding took place and the honeymoon destination.
Some newspaper wedding announcements will include additional information including grandparent’s names or the attendant’s names. This is really based mainly on personal preference. Some newlyweds want the focus of the notice to be solely on them and that’s completely acceptable.
When you call to place the announcement you’ll want to inquire about what day of the week your notice will appear. Most newspaper wedding announcements appear on the weekend, notably Saturday and Sunday. The main reason is that most newspapers sell more copies on the weekends.
It can be a bit more expensive to place newspaper wedding announcements on Saturday and Sunday though. If cost is a concern than consider the idea of placing the notice in a weekday edition of the paper. Many people will still see it and you’ll find it easier to bear the burden of the cost.
