Mouse Pad
Although most people can’t pick and choose the colour of their computer or monitor you can choose from thousands of different styles of mouse pad. There’s the plain black mouse pad for those conservative types or the people who don’t want to clash with the décor of their home office. The fun shape mouse pad is great for kids and young-at-heart, you know the ones, a daisy, a ladybug or car or even a Mickey Mouse shaped one for the Disney fans.
Yes, you can get one just about any way you want it. Whether you prefer funky or conservative, there is a mouse pad out there for you! But wait, what about these new optical mice that have come out? Do you still need a mouse pad?
Technically, if you have an optical mouse, you no longer need a pad to operate it, but let’s face it, they are a great computer accessory and they make fun and easy gifts. Take, for example, the mouse pad that comes with a slide-in pocket on top so you can put your own design in. Slip a photo of the kids in and you have an instant Father’s Day gift. Add an image of a starlet you printed off the web and you can give it to your dateless roommate. A cute shot of a teddy or kitten with the words “I Love You” and you have a romantic present for your girlfriend.
If you are looking for marketing tools for your business consider custom made pads. Who is going to refuse a free mouse pad, which just happens to have your logo emblazoned across it? And since it will be sitting right under their hand all day as they work, play and surf the net, you have 24 hour advertising. So, if you own a business, consider using a new form of advertising.
Should you need inspiration you may not have considered that a computer accessory can offer help to you. Buy a mouse pad with the slip-in pocket and print off a sheet of inspirational sayings. Slip in a new sheet each week and you can stay motivated as you are busy working on the computer.
And, should you end up with a few too many of the handy little pads, you can use them for other purposes. Consider cutting a patterned one into quarters and use them as coasters. Or for cheap wall art, hang a series of them on the wall, vertically. A line of three adorable cats or cars can actually look pretty good! At least no one can complain that you have no imagination.
So, is it on its way out, doomed to become a distant memory of those archaic days of roller ball mice and regular, box monitors? Nope, not just yet! Your mouse pad still has a future, at least for now.
