Modeling Agents
My sister is looking at modeling agents for my niece and with good reason. My niece is one of the most strikingly beautiful little girls you will ever see. She has blonde curly hair; the type that you haven’t seen since Shirley Temple graces stage and screen. Her chicory eyes are a striking contrast to those delicate curls and her countenance is simply flawless.
Looks are not everything when it comes to the business as some modeling agents will tell you. My niece is a regular camera monger. She can’t get enough of the little contraption. She will find the camera and point to it until my sister or my brother-in-law finally cave in and take a snapshot. One of the modeling agents my sister spoke with said that this is a sign that my niece will enjoy the business. However, my sister is taking her time for a couple of reasons.
She wants to be absolutely sure that my niece will really like to have her picture taken in different places. The modeling agents may be gung-ho for her to get started but there is a significant difference between hamming it up in your own living room in front of your parents than having photos taken by professionals in a sterile environment.
I do remember taking my niece to get pictures taken with my daughter. My daughter was only two months old and her cousin was one year in age. My niece was a complete maniac in the studio. We couldn’t get her to stay still for a moment. She ran from room to room. She wanted to be anywhere except in the face of the camera. The whole thing ended in tears and I’m not just talking about the babies.
This is why my sister is a little apprehensive about getting out there to try the whole thing on a professional level. She has mentioned to one or two modeling agents that she is concerned about behavior issues. They do not seem quite so concerned and suggest that it only takes a moment to capture the right pose. That is, if you can capture the child.
As of right now, my sister is still in the talking stage and there really should be no hurry. My niece is growing cuter and cuter by the minute. It may be a good idea to consult with the modeling agents again after my niece gets out of the terrible twos.
