Little Black Dress
So, what’s so great about the little black dress? It’s ubiquitous, showing up all over in movies, television shows, and night clubs. It’s a long standing design too, with its roots seated deeply in the 1940s cocktail dresses. So why has the little black dress stuck around so long when bell bottoms and platform shoes, relatively recent fashion developments, have died out so quickly?
One of the reasons the little black dress has been around so much is that, from a woman’s point of view, it’s perhaps the best piece of clothing ever designed. Are you going out and have absolutely no idea what to wear? Maybe you’re going from a club to a formal dinner to a black tie affair, what are you going to put on which won’t force you to change clothes three times over the course of the evening? Or maybe you’re going out on a first date or an anniversary dinner and you just want to knock the socks off of your date. You need something that’s gorgeous, but not too flashy. It should show off your assets, but it should still be slimming. Oh, what to wear?
OF COURSE!! The little black dress! The little black dress is guaranteed to fit just about every social occasion, go along with almost any accessory, and still make you look fabulous. Though the specific style of the little black dress varies a bit from designer to designer, you really can’t go wrong with a classic, A-line little black dress. The little black dress looks great with accessories too; it’s tough to choose a necklace or bracelet that won’t look fabulous against the black backdrop. Silver is especially striking in necklaces as the dress will make it shine. Feeling a little too black-tie? Dress it up with a colorful scarf or shawl and you’ll be the belle of the ball.
And how does the little black dress look from the guy’s point of view? Does he see it as a cop-out, as something substituting for actual style? Nah. He thinks you look gorgeous in it, and to be honest guys don’t pay nearly as much attention to women’s clothing as women do. Let’s be honest, when a woman is dressing up for an evening out on the town, she’s really dressing to impress the other women in the room. Fortunately, it’s tough for her to go wrong if she’s wearing a little black dress.
