Large Wall Mirrors
My husband recently moved his company into a bigger office space. Each of his employees has their own office. There is a large reception area, as well as a conference room area for staff meetings. The conference room has a fireplace that occupies one wall of the room. Although the fireplace was nice that wall seemed to need help. The wall opposite it had a beautiful view of the riverfront area of our city. The receptionist and I suggested that my husband look at large wall mirrors to place above the fireplace. The mirrors would reflect the view from the windows on the opposite wall.
I have a good relationship with my husband’s receptionist so she felt comfortable calling me at home to tell me that I needed to come and see the large wall mirrors my husband had purchased. When I arrived at the office I noticed that two employees were standing in the conference room. They just shook their heads and went back to their offices. I went into the conference room and saw four mirrors leaning against the fireplace. My husband was standing by the grouping of large wall mirrors and trying to figure out how to secure them to the wall. I asked him why he had bought four of the mirrors, and he stated that he thought it would be easier to hang four separate mirrors rather than one large one. We talked about the effect that was the goal of having the large wall mirrors and that all the framing would take away from what he wanted to achieve.
We carried the mirrors back to his vehicle and took them back to the store. I stayed to help locate a better option for the space. The sales clerk suggested going with beveled edged large wall mirrors. This would give a clean line and would not be as heavy as the framed large wall mirrors that my husband had been looking at. The beveled edging on the mirrors reflects the lighting in the room which adds to their beauty. The store did have several beveled edged large wall mirrors to choose from. One was the size that we needed, however the clerk was concerned that hanging that mirror may cause some distortion if it was not glued to the wall. With bigger mirrors they recommend gluing the back of the mirror to the wall to help handle the weight and also to prevent images from being distorted. My husband is leasing the office space so we did not want that permanent of placement for the large wall mirrors. We decided to buy two beveled edged mirrors that hung side by side. The bevel down the middle reflected light and the weight was easier to handle.
The large wall mirrors are hanging over the fireplace in the conference room. They add warmth and dimension to that wall. The employees are happy with the change in their office spaces and enjoy their meeting room.
