Lanyards

If you are looking for an inexpensive, yet effective, way to market specific products or your entire company, you should consider ordering a batch of custom lanyards. Lanyards are one of the hottest accessories around these days, due in large part to their versatility. You can use them to hold your keys, cell phone, school ID, employee badge, event passes or just about anything else that you want to wear around your neck. This is one promotional item that your target audience is sure to hang onto and use, making it an excellent means of getting your company name out there.

There are a number of companies out there that specialize in printing custom lanyards. Not all of them offer equal service or pricing, of course, so before placing an order with any of them you should keep the following points in mind.

First, lanyards are typically made of two distinct parts: the material and the hardware. You will have several options to choose from for both of these parts. For example, common materials used in manufacturing lanyards are nylon, cotton, polyester, or even a simple plastic cord. Final prices are directly related to the materials you select, with nylon generally being the most expensive and plastic cords being the cheapest. Just remember that if your main purpose is to get your company name and logo out to the masses, you'll have to go with a material that can be stitched, silk-screened, or otherwise imprinted.

The hardware of a lanyard refers to the metal piece that hooks onto key rings or ID cards. You'll have a couple of different options here, as well. You can go with the most standard hook styles, such as the snap-hook or the so-called bulldog clip, or you can choose something a bit more unique. The hardware choice you make largely depends on what you intend your customers to use their lanyards for because the hardware needed to hold, say, a water bottle, is quite different from that needed to hold an ID card.

The second thing you should look for before deciding to work with a specific lanyard manufacturer is the minimum order amount. Some companies may require a minimum of 5,000 pieces or more for a custom order, while other companies require significantly less than that. Generally speaking, the higher the minimum order, the lower the per-piece cost -- so there definitely is an incentive for placing a bigger order. But if you think you'll have trouble distributing thousands of lanyards, then you should just go ahead and pay the higher prices associated with lower minimums.

Finally, you should take a look at the manufacturer's turnaround time on custom orders. Some companies offer priority processing for an additional charge, which is great if you need your lanyards very quickly. On average, most companies can have custom orders ready for delivery within a week or two. Some, however, can't guarantee that anything will be ready until a month or more after you place your order, which would certainly be a deal-breaker for a lot of people.

All in all, getting custom lanyards imprinted with your company name, logo, or website address is a relatively easy process that can pay off big dividends in terms of increased traffic and name recognition. So check into this great marketing method today!
