Activities abound at Caye Caulker. Of course, there is fishing, diving, and snorkeling all around the island. Nevertheless, when you go to Caye Caulker, you must take a tour of the nearby Mayan ruins. Children will also love the Manatee tours, exploring some of the most interesting sea life you can find. If nature and trekking is your thing, there are special bird watching and nature walking facilities. Two marine reserves that adjoin the Caye will give you an opportunity to see some of the most unspoiled waters with huge friendly groupers.
Caye Caulker boasts of more than two dozen restaurants catering to the desires of all nationalities. However, you must savor the local fish. The food of Belize is special because of the influence of several cultures. And I will tell you from personal experience, Caribbean lobster is better than anything that comes from Maine.
There is also something else special here. Because it is a very small community, the people are almost devoted about the protection of the environment. Residents of the island are expected to help keep things clean and tidy. So do not be surprised if some one asks you to volunteer to spend a few minutes helping.
