These days my father actually makes use of a can or walking stick everywhere he goes. I recall the first time I saw him using one when I was in college. When I asked him if he had trouble keeping his balance, he said that he simply enjoyed carrying a cane or walking stick for self-defense purposes. Well, to each his own.

When in search of canes and walking sticks, it is a good idea to keep the purpose in mind. You want to find something that suits what you wish to use it for. If you're taking it through the mountains, you may prefer a different cane or walking stick than you would for the city sidewalks. No matter what your preference, you will certainly find it with the help of the Internet.
