One of the fastest growing hobby’s across the country is jewelry making. The jewelry varies greatly from crafter to crafter. Due to the number of people creating their own jewelry there are retailers opening one bead store after another. The bead store offers a range of products to help the crafters with their creations.
The bead store located in our community specializes in all glass beads. These glass beads come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some of them are made from glass that is blown by a local artisan. Each of these beads is a work of art themselves, however when combined with other beads from the bead store they become one of a kind pieces of jewelry. That is what I like about making your own jewelry or purchasing pieces from a crafter, each piece is unique. The bead store offers such a wide variety of accessories that there is no reason why anyone would want to make duplicate products.
Recently a young woman from my neighborhood asked me for ideas for gifts to give the attendants at her wedding. She wanted something that was unique. She also mentioned that she did not know what kind of jewelry the attendants should wear the day of the wedding. I suggested a trip to the bead store to see what we could find. This young woman had never been involved in jewelry making and had never been in the bead store. She was amazed at the beauty of the beads and the variety. She had brought a fabric sample from the dresses that the attendants would be wearing at the wedding. We found several beads that complimented the color and texture of the fabric. The bead store owner suggested that a simple necklace be made for each attendant. Because the bead store had several beads that matched she suggested using different beads for each necklace. This way each piece would be unique and this could be the attendant’s gift. The young woman thought this was a wonderful idea, but she was concerned about making the jewelry herself. The bead store offers a list of several local crafters that will complete custom projects. The bead store also offers demonstrations and classes to teach the skills of beading. The bride had 3 months before her wedding day and four necklaces to complete for the attendants. I encouraged her to come to the bead store and learn the techniques and make the pieces herself, this would greatly add to the value of the gift in the eyes of the attendants. The owner of the bead store offered to help the bride if she found herself in a time crunch. With the accessories and jewelry fasteners at the bead store the bride did not have to go anywhere else for supplies.
The bride, with the help of the bead store owner, created beautiful necklaces for each of her attendants. She enjoyed the projects so much that she is now a regular customer at the bead store and her jewelry creations are lovely. The bead store offers many great ideas for gifts. Beading is not limited to jewelry. There are many items that become works of art through the embellishment of beads. This popular trend will be kept going through the help that people receive from their local bead store.
